update

Well after 3.5 years in London I retuned to Adelaide via Malaysia on Monday. What a change it has been, I think I have gotten used to all of the different time zones I have been in the last week!

I have now updated my contact details in the contact section with my new mobile number, although my email address will still be the same.

I am currently looking for both freelance and or permanent graphic design work here in Adelaide so if anyone hears of or needs anything done please get in touch.

*update*

I have now updated the profile section with a new profile as well as new resumé with all of my current contact details.

Just a quick update to let people know I have added a few new pieces to the Design Archive and Photos of an Everyday Life. There are a couple of new logos and website designs in the archive and some new photos in the Everyday Life gallery to check out.

Also it is only 28 more days until I leave London and just over a month until I arrive back in Adelaide, Australia. If anyone knows of any jobs, preferably permanent or freelance graphic design then please contact me and let me know!

Final Invitation – Front

Creating the Sunset at the Grove invitation…

After an initial marketing meeting we decided the best way to promote this event would be by using a kitsch postcard and spreading it out through the community as an image that people would want to keep and put up on their walls or in the office cubicles. After an appeal at the office to try and get people to bring in old photos failed we had to rely on (cheap) stock photography to create the card, however there wasn’t much available (that fit the budget) that gave the impression we wanted, some photoshop trickery was needed!

Using a couple of different images from istock photography (Image 1, Image 2) and some fun with different grungy photoshop brushes and various colour effects I was able to come up with the look and feel that we needed. The final touch was to ‘dress’ the model as the client is a Jewish charity the image of the girl in the bikini wasn’t suitable– a full bathing suit was required.

A new font that fit the era and imagry of the postcard was needed so this was sourced from myfonts (Estilo). The front of the invite was now complete creating the perfect kitschy post card and invitation we all wanted!

For the back I used the services provided by Yourfonts.com to create a typeface out of my own scribbly messy handwriting to get that hand written look, yet retaining the flexibility of being able to edit the text as the client changed their mind on the wording. It’s a fantastic services, not prefect and sometimes the leading and kerning leaves allot to be desired but the flexibility of it is ace! The whole thing was rounded off by placing a stamp up the the corner to make it feel more postcard-like – complete with it’s own ‘UJIA’ post-mark.

All in all a successful job and fun to boot!

strab-poster-yellow.jpg

Okay, Okay, so it isn’t quite summer yet, and it isn’t quite strawberry season yet either but I did have some rather nice strawbs the other day and had the urge to do a nice little picture about them. I also downloaded a ton of fantastic typefaces from HDV Fonts and really wanted to use them for something fun and funky! If you need some fun amazing typefaces check them out!

Every one loves a good strawberry!
