Typical English BBQ – in the rain!

Ahh summer, the weather is warm and balmy, the skies are blue and outside is where you want to be. It was the perfect day yesterday, a bbq was in order. Invite round some friends, head to the supermarket for some food and charcoal and light the bbq – perfect.
Now as everyone knows the coals can’t be cooked on for at least an hour after lighting so we sat around, had a few beers, chatted and listened to music, before we knew it the coals were red hot and ready to cook on. As soon as the fish hit the grill the clouds rolled in, but you expect a few clouds in the evening, right?
Nothing more than a few clouds to break up the clear skies, nothing to worry about… Five mins later the fish was looking ace had been expertly flipped, the spuds were rocking and the capsicum was grilling to perfection filling the air with their sweet aroma and the lightning was flashing around us. Huh, wait a minute… what? Lightning? Next thing we knew we were running for the umbrellas to cover the bbq like the ground team at the cricket run for the covers to cover the pitch. Thus was our Thursday evening bbq, cloudy, then thundery followed by soaking wet but still very fun and very tasty!
